MEMBERSHIP & CHARTER RENEWAL
Keep Scouting Moving Forward
Renewing your Scouting membership or unit charter helps ensure uninterrupted participation and keeps your unit ready for another year of Scouting. Whether you're a parent, volunteer, or unit leader, the Atlanta Area Council provides the guidance and resources you need to complete the renewal process.

Individual Membership Renewal
Scouting America memberships renew annually, based on each member's registration anniversary. Parents, adult volunteers, and other registered members can complete their renewal through My.Scouting.
Members receive renewal notifications beginning approximately 90 days before expiration. Units may also renew members on their behalf, depending on their renewal arrangements.
How to Renew
- Sign in to your My.Scouting account.
- Locate your membership renewal notification.
- Review your registration information.
- Complete payment and submit your renewal.
Unit Renewal
Unit renewal is a separate annual process that maintains your pack, troop, crew, or ship's charter. Authorized unit leaders complete renewal through Organization Manager in My.Scouting.
Before submitting, units should verify their leadership information, review applicable requirements, and coordinate with their chartered organization and district representatives.
How to Renew
- Sign in to My.Scouting as an authorized unit leader.
- Open Organization Manager and select Unit Renewal.
- Review the unit information and complete the required steps.
- Submit payment and any required charter documents.
Before You Renew
A little preparation can make the renewal process easier. Review the following information before starting your individual membership or unit renewal.
For Individuals & Families
- Verify your My.Scouting account. Confirm that you can sign in and access the membership you need to renew.
- Review your contact information. Make sure your email address and other personal details are current.
- Check your renewal date. Individual memberships follow a 12-month registration cycle, so expiration dates may vary among members of the same unit.
- Coordinate with your unit. Before paying individually, ask whether your unit plans to renew your membership on your behalf.
- Request assistance early. If your family needs financial assistance with renewal, contact the Atlanta Area Council before submitting payment.
For Unit Leaders
- Review your unit roster. Verify registered youth and adult members and identify memberships approaching expiration.
- Confirm leadership positions. Check that required unit leadership positions are filled and accurately recorded in My.Scouting.
- Verify training requirements. Review Youth Protection Training status and any other applicable registration requirements.
- Coordinate with your chartered organization. Confirm that the appropriate representatives are prepared to complete the annual charter agreement.
- Prepare renewal documents and payment. Review current Council instructions before submitting your unit renewal.
